Second day.
After lobster lunch.

In my first plan, We are going to enjoy the town working on Freedom Trail.
But it’s still raining along with strong wind.

I had to change plan.
I decide to go to Science museum.

There is a subway system in Boston.
They are less complicated than NY’s subway system.
Boston people call it “T”.

Several times I found the signs at town.
It means subway station just like green ball signs at New York.

At first I couldn’t understand how to buy tickets.
Through a trial and error process, I finally succeeded in buying a ticket somehow.

Lovely-looking train car arrives at the track.

Manhattan train lines are distinguished A or B or R or 1,2,3.
But Boston train lines are distinguished by color.

In Manhattan, the train direction goes “Uptown” and “Downtown”.
In Boston, it goes “Inbound” and “Outbound”.

And I found the very lovely locomotive.

Second day, it’s still raining.

For the time being, we were going to Breakfast or lunch.
Yesterday, I found the interesting small house.
It’s name is James Hook and Co.

It looks like a small trailer house.

Signboard said us there are good lobsters.

Enter the store.
I can see the huge lobster.
There are many tanks in the store.

And I can eat in the store.
If weather was good, I could eat at the outside table.

This one is so big!
Staff said the weight is about 12 Lb.
How match is that?

Board on wall shows us the plaice.

Lobster roll and lobster bisque.

Lobster roll is made with a chunk of flesh lobsters.

lobster bisque is goo, too.

And boiled live lobster.
Very very delicious.
And also blown meet inside lobster head.

if I was so hungry and I can rest until next day, I could eat this 5 or 6 of them.
Or could try the 12 Lb one.

After Aquarium,
I visited the most old restaurant in U.S.
Named Union Oyster House.

My colleague Colleen recommended restaurant.
I was looking forward the Oyster at this restaurant.

Gland floor is bar.

And many lobsters in tank.

After Few minutes wait, we had a table at second floor.

The every interiors in restaurant are very traditional and historical.

The restaurant’s picture in menu.

I can found many good sea foods.
I can’t decide, Because everythings on the menu are so good.

The tableware explains us The Freedom Trail.

Historical picture on the napkin too.

This corn bread was so good.
little sweet.
But I shouldn’t eat this too much at this point, because even better dishes are coming after.

Cram chowder.

And oysters.

Grilled crams.

Special crams pasta.

And lobster

Include one bottle wine.
It’s very reasonable!

There is little souvenir shop at gland floor side.
I can found the lot of lobster goods.
But i can’t by anything.

Very very good taste and delicious restaurant.
And the price is reasonable.
I do wish this restaurant was at the nearby my town.

After the lunch, We checked in hotel.
Today’s staying hotel is Intercontinental Hotel Boston.

It was very good hotel at close the liver.

Our room was 903.

And I can found the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum on river neighbor the hotel.

And I found the little funny thing.

Only Japanese speakers can understand this so I try to translate to English.
It should be “This mini bar is managed automatically” to error “Two of mini bunny are managed automatically”

In my first plan, I was going to enjoy the kayaking on Charles river.
But unfortunately rain started with strong.
I changed the plan, and went to Aquarium.

I saw the Jurassic World at movie theater near the my apartment.
It isn’t in theater yet in Japan.
先週の話ですが、うちの近くの映画館で「Jurassic World」を観てきました。
ちょっと優越感なのは日本ではまだ封切されていない時期に観られるという点です。

I like Jurassic park series, so that I read all original books.
ジェラシックパークシリーズは好きで全作原作本も読んでいるほどです。

I was looking forward to seeing Jurassic World that is fourth movie in the “Jurassic Park” series.
その４作目が上映されるという事で楽しみに行ってきました。

In my impressions
以下感想です。

About scenario.
ストーリーについて
In previous series, I could Easily understand the cause of the incident that leads to a big problem.
In first movie, Dennis Nedry who has complaints about the company’s treatment tries to steal embryo.
In second one, dinosaurs which were back to wild from Jurassic park at the first movie attack tourists.
In third one, parents go to the dinosaur island to find their missing son.
前作までは、事の始まりと成る事件の発生原因がそれなりに納得できるものでした。
１作目は待遇に不満を持っていたデニス・ネドリーが恐竜の胚を盗んで金にしようとしてトラブルを起こす。
２作目は１作目で崩壊したパークの近くで野生化した恐竜に襲われる
３作目も引き続き恐竜が生息している島で行方不明に成った息子を探すために島に入る。

But this movie, I can’t understand why the big problem happened so easy.
if they had such a high technology systems, dinosaur would not have run away from the cage so easily.
Regarding the scene in early part of stories, where person falls down to Velociraptor’s cage.
If it is real world, there should be more safety system or safety roles.
然しながら今作はなぜこんな大事が簡単に起こってしまうのか理解できません。
これほどハイテクを駆使した環境であるならば、そんなに簡単に恐竜が逃げ出したり出来ないはずです。
ストーリー前半でラプトルの檻に人が落ちてしまう下りも、それが現実にある施設だったならもっと何重もの安全設備や安全のためのルールがあって然るべきで、そんなに簡単に人が落ちたりしないはずです。

And I can’t understand the ending of movie.
Why Tyrannosaurus rex…..
そして最後の結末も・・・
なぜT-Rexが・・・

I shouldn’t say more than above for people who haven’t seen it yet.
おっと、これ以上はこれから観る人の為にネタばらしはしないでおきます。

About visual.
ビジュアルについては

Visual effect of this movie is fantastic.
I saw it in the IMAX 3D system theater.
3D visual is so good.
It has been two years since I saw 3D movie last time.
I felt 3D technology has been significantly progressed in past few years.
This movie seems to be very natural and has great 3D view.
ビジュアルは凄く素晴らしいです。
IMAX 3Dというシステムの劇場で観ましたが3Dの感じは素晴らしいです。
3D映画を観るのはもう２年ぶりでしたが、以前はそれほどの立体感も無かったように思います。
それが久しぶりにみてみたら、3Dのテクノロジーはかなり進歩していると感じました。
そして違和感無く、3D酔いというのもまったく感じさせずナチュラルな感じです。

And…
It was my first time visit to a movie theater in U.S.
I was surprised at a big popcorn bucket.
今回の映画が私のこちらでの初めての映画館訪問だったのですが、流石にポップコーンの大きさにはびっくりしました。
これこそバケツです。

I continue eating for 2 hours duting the movie.
But I could ate this much.
２時間の上映時間中頑張って食べましたがこのぐらいしか食べられませんでした。

Soda’s size as well…
そしてコーラの大きさも・・

Anyway I enjoyed the Jurassic World so much.
いずれにしても、とっても楽しめた映画でした。

We arrived the Boston around noon.

We ate lunch at Italian restaurant named The Daily Catch.

We had the out side seat.

Out side seat close to sea.
so good view.

menu as following.

I chose the Clam chowder.
This was so delicious!
Great clam taste.

Raw oysters and clams.
Both very good taste sea smell.

And this was squid ink pasta.
I heard it is very famous pasta.
I also heard that some peoples do a day trip from New York just to eat this pasta.

And desert.

And espresso.

Very very very delicious lunch.
I wanted to eat more pasta, if I could.

Include one bottled wine, not too bad.

Usually I wrote the blog in Japanese.

But I try to write in English this topics so that my U.S friend can read.

Few weeks ago I visited the Boston for sight seeing.

Why Boston?
Not mean match.

Boston is relatively close from New York.
And sea side, I’m sure I can eat good seafood.

I’ll write few articles about Boston trip….
In English…in English..
I don’t know if they are good sentences for you,
I try to.

First article is train trip to Boston.

I’v never gotten on train in U.S except NY Metro.
I was exited to get on Amtrak.

Amtrak departs from Pen station which is 2 minutes away from my apartment.

The most difference for train departure between U.S and Japan is that I can’t find the track number until few minutes before the train departing time in U.S..
It’s funny thing for Japanese.
I can find the track number in train time schedule book even one day before or one month before in Japan.
Then we have to find the track number in board 10 minutes before train depart.

After indicated the track number, I go down to track.

I checked the my seat number on ticket.
But no seat number.
I asked the train staff where my seat is.
They said any seat is okay.
We had the opportune seat.

To my surprise, there is power outlet for each seat.
it’s very convenient for long trip.

The train left the station with the bell that sounds like the old alarm clock.
After few minutes from the departure, train stuff came for ticket check.

Train stuff puts the small paper on baggage shelf above our seat.

And one more to my surprise,I can use the Wi-Fi network.

it’s very convenient for long trip.

And one more convenient thing.
I can buy the beer at dining car.
it’s very very very very convenient for long trip.

Amtrak mark on a napkin.
It’s trivial thing.

After four hours ride.
We arrived the south station at Boston.

And one more to my surprise.
We had the seat in Quiet car.
Japanese people never know Quiet car.
There is no the Quiet car system in Japan.
Sometime weepy voice becomes a problem in Japan.
There is no such issue in this system.

なんと！
Eatalyに行くとあん肝を売っているではありませんか！

思わず買ってきて・・・

ちなみにこちらではアンコウがMonkfishと言うのでMonkfish Liverで鮟肝となるわけです。
1ポンドで$16.80で買ったのは0.635ポンドなのでこのサイズで$10.67

血管や筋を慎重に取り除いて、ほんの少しのお酒と醤油に漬け込んで１時間

それを硬めにラップでくるんで・・

さらにアルミホイルにくるんで蒸します。

蒸しあがったところ・・・
って、蒸す前と変わりませんが・・

しっかりした固まりながら、口に入れるととろける感じで、美味しく出来ました。
たいがいこちらのお店で鮟肝を注文すると冷凍で不味い場合があるので、こうやって自宅でフレッシュなまま調理すると格別に美味しいです。

こればかりは日本酒が欲しくなります。

近くのWholeFoodsに買い物に行くと・・
なんと・・・
ゼンマイが売っているではありませんか！

こちらではFiddleHeadsというらしいです。
Fiddleがバイオリンという意味なのでバイオリンのチューニングをする側の先っぽの形に似ているからでしょうか？

水煮にしてあくを抜きます。

それを一旦冷水で絞めて、お醤油味のおひたしにしてみました。

これはこれで、まあまあ美味しかったですが、アメリカの人はこれをどうやって食べるのかなぁ？

以前Social Security Numberの取得のページでも書きましたが、アメリカでは銀行口座とクレジットカードかデビッドカード、そしてSocial Security Number、最後に身分証明書が無いと生活する上で困ることもしばしば・・

私は最後の身分証明書をノンドライバーズライセンスで取得したので、すべては揃っているのですが、ニューヨーク市長がすべてのニューヨーク市民に無料でIDを発行するといって始めたID NYCというのが出来たので、話のネタに作ってみることに。

まずはID NYCの公式ホームページを参照。
ここに行けば各言語で書かれた申請用紙や説明書が入手出来ます。

作成するための必要書類（駐在日本人の場合はパスポートとVISAとか）は基本的にノンドライバーズライセンスとほぼ同じです。
私の場合はすでにノンドライバーズライセンスを持っていたので、それと自宅住所宛に届いた公共料金の請求書などを持っていけば良い感じです。
必要書類が何であるかも公式ホームページで確認できます。

さらにノンドライバーズライセンスと違って事前に予約をしてその時間に手続きに行かなければならないと言うこと。
まあ、その代わり待たされる時間が最小限なのかなと思う。

予約も公式ホームページから行えるので、予約しておく。

うちから一番近くの週末もやっている登録センターはMid Manhattan Libraryという所なので、そこに予約を入れます。

予約にはメールアドレスとか何も必要なくて名前を入力して時間を決めれば完了します。
（たぶん対象者がホームレスとかそういうひとまで作れることになっているので、メルアドが有るとかそういうのが条件に成らないためでしょう。）

で、予約した日に行ってみる。
場所は４１丁目の５番街。
丁度ブライアントパークの大きな図書館のはす向かいに有る図書館の別館みたいなところでした。

ここから入ってエレベータで４階に上がります。

をお！
有りました。
なんか臨時で作った会場という感じ

ここから並んでIDNYCが作れますよと言う感じ

入り口のお兄さんお姉さんに予約の確認や書類の確認をされて、分かりにくい順番待ちの椅子の列に座っていると、いずれこちらへ入れと言われて手続きをする部屋に入室します。

で、呼ばれた窓口の人に書類や申請書を渡して、いくつか会話をして、窓口の人がコンピュータに入力を終わったら写真撮影をして、レシートをくれます。
もちろん記述内容に間違いがないかよく確認して、ＯＫならサンキューといって終わり。

１０日ほど経過したところで自宅に届きました。

中にはIDNYCの小冊子が入っています。

最初は話のネタに作るかなというぐらいの気持ちで調べだしたのですが、調べてみるとこれを持っている事による特典がとても沢山有ることが分かりました。
ニューヨーク市が持っているミュージアムや植物園、動物園などの年間会員に無料でなれるのです。

日本人ならニューヨーク観光で必ず行くし、興味のある人なら１日で回りきれなくて、２日、３日と何度も行く人が居るメトロポリタンミュージアムもその対象なのです。
もちろんＭｏｍａも！

ただIDNYCのカードを持っているだけで会員扱いという事は無くて、初めにメトロポリタンミュージアムなら、そこの年間会員の作成窓口に行って年間会員の申し込みをしたときにIDNYCを提示すればその年間会員の料金が免除されるという仕組みだそうです。

まあ、そういう手間は掛かりますが博物館好きで何回も行く人とか、季節ごとに植物園に行く人などはかなりお得な特典と思います。

その特典について各国言語で説明が書かれています。

いつもの事ですが、英語、スペイン語、中国語、ロシア語はあっても日本語はありません。

そしてカードが同朋されています。

こんな感じで、カード表面のデザインはニューヨーク市の形をかたどったデザイン

裏面はブルックリンブリッジでしょうか？

ニューヨークに住んでこれから身分証明を取ろうと思ている人にとってはノンドライバーライセンスよりもこちらの方が料金も掛からないし、土日でも申請できるし、それほど待ち時間も掛からないので、こちらの方がお勧めだと思う。
